WHL Playoffs: Chiefs Tri but Can't Outlast Americans

~
What a wild one in Kennewick Washington tonight as the Tri City Americans edged Spokane 4-3 in double overtime. Defenceman Tyler Schmidt scored 11 times in the regular season and picked a fine time to notch his first of the second season 2 and a half minutes into the second 'next goal wins' time.

This one had a little bit of everything. Spokane jumped out to a 2-0 lead 25 minutes in on goals by Steven Kuhn and Tyler Johnson, but back stormed the Americans. Brendan Shinnimin gave them a 3-2 lead as the Americans exploded for 3 goals in 10:43 of the second period. The lead stood up until Johnson on a power play notched his second of the game in the 3rd to force overtime.

James Reid and Drew Owlsey were both a perfect 12-12 in overtime with Reid staring down Shinniman on a penalty shot in overtime. The second OT period didn't last long as Schmidt ended it and tied the series at 2 games a piece with game 5 not going until Sunday once again in Kennewick. Shots were even steven at 50 a piece.
