Rookie Watch: St. Louis Blues

~
Each Day until September 15th TPS will take a look at one team from the East and one team from the West and spotlight a few rookies to watch for this season. Today in the West it’s the St. Louis Blues.

After years of grooming their talented youth the Blues are seeing their prospects turn into key cogs with the big club. Patrick Berglund, T.J. Oshie and David Perron (if he comes back healthy) are the next wave of St. Louis stars, and they'll have some nice company in a few years with the likes of Jaden Schwartz and Vlad Tarasenko.

As for this year, Phillip McCrae (left) has done a nice job in Peoria and will be a candidate to fill a bottom six role, as well as Stefan Della-Rovere. Ian Cole is starting to show why he was the 18th overall pick in 2007. After 3 years at Notre Dame and 2 years in the AHL, Cole will be one of the first d-men called up when injuries strike.

As for the last line of defence, big Ben Bishop will once again try and make his case for a roster spot. He won't unseat Jaroslav Halak however and that might make the Blues think about giving him quality starts in the AHL once again.
