Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup Details

The rosters for this new event were unveiled today by the WHL. You can check them out here. Also Allen Caldwell of Small Thoughts At Large does a nice job of sorting out what team each kid belongs to.

It's interesting to note that there are some WHL free agents in the event, which will give scouts even more of a reason to watch than just checking up on their own guys. The Oil Kings sit tied for 3rd with 5 players in the tournament.

The games will go from October 28th to November 1st in Blackfalds, Alberta. I still think having a prospect type game for players eligible in the Bantam draft each year is a better idea, but I'm still glad to see something like this happening.

The Prospect type game you mention is called the Alberta Cup through Hockey Alberta.

It's not for the entire bantam draft pool though. There for it's not a prospect type event.
