The Boston College Eagles have lost a roster player to the CHL as freshman Kenny Ryan has bolted the college ranks with the possible destination of Windsor in the OHL.
USCHO.com reported yesterday that the winger has left the team with head coach Jerry York confirming but not offering a comment. There is no story or notice on the schools official site.
The Western College Hockey Blog offered up its take and makes the argument that players who have done this same thing to Boston College in the past... have lived to regret it. (Although his mention of giving up free education is clearly flawed considering the CHL's extensive scholarship programs for players who don't continue on with pro hockey immediately after junior).
The Eagles are set to open the 2009-10 season this weekend when they visit Vermont for a Hockey East clash with the Catamounts.
Ryan is property of the Toronto Maple Leafs who drafted him in the second round of the NHL Draft this past June.
