Owen Sound Wins OHL Title

~
A series with nothing on the line except league bragging rights, went the distance and then some before it was finally decided. Jarrod Maidens second goal of the game, in overtime, gave the Owen Sound Attack a game 7 victory and the OHL Championship. Owen Sound defeated Mississauga 3-2 on Sunday afternoon but both teams will move on to the Memorial Cup as representatives of the OHL.

Netminder Jordan Binnington stopped 25 of 27 shots in his second consecutive start and victory as Owen Sound captured the last two games of the series with their youngest goalie in net.

The teams traded goals but the Attack never trailed in the game.

Robby Mignardi and Joey Hishon (COL) finish the OHL playoffs atop the scoring race with 24 points.

The Memorial Cup begins on Friday May 20th with Mississauga hosting the QMJHL Champion, either Saint John or Gatineau depending on the outcome of their Game 6 tonight. Owen Sound will take on Kootenay on Saturday.

Reminder: this Tuesday night on The Pipeline Show we are holding our annual Memorial Cup Preview Show with the coaches or General Managers from all four participating teams. Kootenay GM Jeff Chynoweth has already confirmed his appearance on the show.
