The Mastercard Memorial Cup hosts won't have to go the tie breaker route to win the Memorial Cup after beating Owen Sound tonight 3-1 with an empty netter. The game was back and forth and feisty but the Attack will need much more discipline if they are going to get another shot at Mississauga, although I do think some of their penalties weren't deserved. This one would have been a blow out if Mississauga's power play would have been better, they only went 1-9.
Owen Sound will now have to regroup and get ready for Kootenay in Thursday's tie breaker game, and they might be doing it without their 2 biggest offensive weapons. Joey HIshon didn't play tonight still feeling the after effects of a Brayden McNabb hit, while Garrett Wilson left tonight' game after being slammed into the boards. On pretty much any team if you took out the top 2 offensive players it would severely hamper their Chance of winning and unfortunately for Attack fans that looks like it's coming true for their team.
Mississauga will now get a day off, then play the winner of Kootenay-Owen Sound on Friday. Saint John will take on that winner in Sunday's final.
