Saturday Morning Special: Oct 30th

~
Another busy show today as we talked to a new NCAA media contact, got the latest from Moncton after the Kirill Kabanov trade, spoke with another potential 1st round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, chatted with the coach of one of the top Jr.A teams in Canada and also had a weekly visit from our NHL Insider.

As he does every week, our NHL insider Daren Millard of Rogers Sportsnet dropped by to debate whether or not the Islanders were right to send Nino Neiderrieter back to Portland. We also talked about Nashville goalie Anders Lindback, a 7th round pick in 2008 who is now playing well for the Preds.

Hockeybuzz.com writer Julie Robenhymer covers NCAA and also knows the USNTD very well. We spoke with her about guys like Rocco Grimaldi and then asked her why a top hockey prospect would go play at a Ivy League program like Yale or Cornell which she described as being much more focused on academic development.

Our 2011 draft prospect was Brett Ritchie of the Sarnia Sting, a power forward who has been rated as high as early first round to late second round by different scouts.

We'll also recap the Kirill Kabanov saga that is over in Moncton and could be just beginning in Lewiston.

And from the CHL to junior A, we caught up with Bonnyville Pontiacs head coach Chad Mercier. The Pontiacs are in the driver's seat when it comes to the AJHL and are ranked 4th in the country.
