Checking in with a quick update from the QMJHL. The Saint John Sea Dogs finished off the Victoriaville Tigres with a 7-1 win in Game 6 to advance to the final against the Moncton Wildcats. Victoriaville had a banged-up blueline and goalie Kevin Poulin was playing hurt as well, so it was a credit to the Tigres that they forced a return trip to Saint John for Game 6.
Ottawa Senators prospect and league most valuable player Mike Hoffman led the way with a hat trick, while Pittsburgh Penguins prospects Nicholas Petersen and Simon Despres had a goal and two assists each. Marco Cousineau (Anaheim Ducks) kicked out 31 stops in goal.
The win sets up an all-New Brunswick final for the first time ever. It's actually the first time a Quebec team hasn't been in the final in the 41-year history of the league. This could be a series for the ages that will go down in the province's hockey history. I'll check in with more later in the week.
