The Springfield Falcons won their first game of the AHL exhibition season after downing the visiting Worchester Sharks by a narrow 2-1 score on the strength of two goals from rookie Bryan Lerg.
The former Michigan State Spartans captain scored his first of the night in the first period while on the power play. He would add another before the night was done giving him 3 lamp lighters in 2 games... all of the goals Springfield has scored thus far this year.
For a few more details on the game tonight including a hit post by Colin McDonald and a fight from Ryan O'Marra, check out the Falcons official website. You can also find post game audio from Lerg, Tyler Spurgeon and head coach Jeff Truitt.
Springfield hosts the Providence Bruins on Saturday night then will have a week to prepare for the opening night of the AHL season. The Falcons will begin the year on a 3-game road trip starting in Hartford against the farm club of the New York Rangers.
You can hear a Falcons Season Preview this coming Tuesday night (October 7th) when head coach Jeff Truitt joins Dean and myself on The Pipeline Show.
