The Regina Pats have called a news conference for today, and speculation is that G.M. Brent Parker will step down and former Moose Jaw Warrior G.M. Chad Lang will be his replacement.
This has been making the rounds for a while and I spoke to Parker about it at the WHL awards. He told me that conversations had taken place with Lang but nothing official. Brent has a young son who plays goal for Notre Dame and I'm sure he would like to watch him play a little more. He's also had some health problems in the recent past and I'm sure that has given him even more incentive to spend more time with his family.
I hear rumblings that there could also be changes to the Pats scouting staff. Not sure who it will affect if anyone, but keep your ears open for that one, and that former Pat player Jamie Heward might be joining the coaching staff.
One more WHL tidbit, word is Swift Current is looking at Darren Evjen for their vacant assistant coaching job. Evjen is currently the head coach and G.M. for the Notre Dame Hounds junior A club. He has close ties with current Broncos head coach and G.M. Mark Lamb as the 2 grew up together in speedy creek.
